How do I access emergency shelter for my family?

Family Promise North Shore Boston no longer operates an Emergency Shelter program. Our primary services are Homelessness Prevention, Shelter Diversion, and Housing Stabilization. We assist families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness with applying for housing opportunities, negotiating with landlords, securing financial assistance for rent/utilities/other needs, etc.

If you are in need of immediate emergency shelter, the only option available at this time is to apply through the Department of Transitional Assistance and attempt to gain access to the state-run, Emergency Assistance (EA) shelter.

If you have applied for shelter and have not heard back or have been denied shelter and would like legal assistance, we recommend you reach out to Greater Boston Legal Services (if local to Boston) or Northeast Legal Aid (if local to the North Shore).

If all else fails you can complete an intake form on our website and request to speak with a case manager for help with your case and assistance accessing state shelter, but please be advised that our caseloads are often full and we are prioritizing families who are deemed ineligible for state/EA shelter.
